Beware of Sitting Down for Too Long
Over at The Age, Neville Owen, Professor of Health Behaviour at the University of Queensland warns of the dangers of spending too long sitting down and that your chair may just be killing you.
“People are so inactive, we’ve evolved a society where people can pretty much even sit to get anywhere we want,” he says. “Most of our time is sitting now.
“In three or four generations we’ve gone, for most people, from pretty uniform activity — standing, lifting, doing — to sitting tapping or sitting staring.”
